Enbridge Gas Water Heater Check-Up: $120 Tank Service vs. $220 Flush
Compare Enbridge Gas North Carolina’s $120 tank check-up and $220 tankless flush by equipment and included work.
Enbridge Gas North Carolina publishes two different water-heater services. Its tank-type Water Heater Check-Up costs $120 plus tax. A tankless water-heater flush is $220 plus tax. The prices are for different equipment and should not be treated as competing versions of the same visit. Read Enbridge’s service page. The U.S. Department of Energy describes storage water heaters and instantaneous (tankless) water heaters as separate equipment categories. See the DOE equipment overview.
What the $120 tank check includes
Enbridge says a technician checks leaks, corrosion, and safe operation; inspects the pilot assembly and burner compartment; tests the thermocouple; checks venting; and sets the water heater to 120°F. Its note says a tankless flush requires a flush-valve kit installed before service, and that the kit is not included. The page also states that the programs are not part of the regulated services offered by Enbridge Gas North Carolina.
The tankless price buys a different service: Enbridge says the technician recirculates solution through the unit to remove lime or calcium, then flushes with clean water. The published minimum time is one hour. It does not say the $220 includes installing the required valve kit, repairing a leak, or correcting venting.
Decide by equipment, then verify tax and readiness
Before booking, identify whether the heater is tank-type or tankless and photograph the model label. For a tankless unit, ask whether the flush valve kit is already installed and whether the technician will quote it separately if absent. For a gas tank, ask whether the $120 check includes any replacement parts beyond the thermocouple test. Enbridge lists the services for North Carolina customers; its page does not establish a national water-heater maintenance price.
