Eversource Eastern MA Heat Pump Rates: April–July 2026

Review the Eastern Massachusetts Eversource heat-pump delivery classification published for April–July 2026 and its limits.

By How we research prices

Eversource’s Eastern Massachusetts delivery tariff has a separate Residential Heat Pump Service R1HP/R2HP classification. In the historical table applicable to April 1–July 31, 2026, the heat-pump distribution energy charge is $0.09443 per kWh for May–October and $0.04892 per kWh for November–April. The heat-pump table lists transmission at $0.04673 per kWh in May–October and $0.01492 in November–April, with a $10 monthly customer charge. Read the Eastern Massachusetts delivery table. July 31, 2026 has passed, so these are historical tariff values rather than current switching advice.

Read the seasonal table correctly

The table is seasonal rather than a single year-round heat-pump price. For a 1,000-kWh example, the heat-pump distribution line alone is 1,000 × $0.09443 = $94.43 in May–October and 1,000 × $0.04892 = $48.92 in November–April. Add transmission, renewable, solar, energy-efficiency, and program charges separately; these examples are not total-delivery or total-bill promises.

The classification describes an eligible device used to heat or supplement another heat source by transferring thermal energy from outside with the refrigeration cycle. A portable heater, electric baseboard, or ordinary air conditioner does not qualify merely because it uses electricity. Ask Eversource what equipment documentation or account setup it needs, and verify that your account is in the Eastern Massachusetts service territory covered by this table.

Supply remains separate

Eversource’s Massachusetts supply page lists a fixed residential supply rate of $0.15629 per kWh for February 1–July 31, 2026, along with monthly variable rates. That supply page makes clear that supply is the purchased-electricity charge; delivery is the grid and program side. That supply period also ended July 31, so it is historical context only.

Before budgeting around the heat-pump classification, check the service class on your bill, the equipment wording, and the tariff effective dates. Recheck the table for the next period because Eversource changes delivery rates during the year.
