Compare garage-floor coating proposals using the actual coating system and preparation method. The word epoxy alone does not identify the primer, base layer, decorative material, or topcoat.

Price evidence and its limits

HomeGuide’s cost guide, dated February 3, 2026, lists $1,600–$5,800 installed for a two-car garage of 400–576 square feet. These are the publisher’s U.S. consumer-guide estimates, checked September 7, 2026; they are not local bids or a price survey conducted by this site. The source date is not the date every underlying project was priced. That is an epoxy-flooring category, not a quote for every polyaspartic or other coating system. Match preparation, slab condition, and the complete product sequence.

Define the work in the quote

Slab evaluation

Ask how the installer will assess moisture and the condition of the concrete. List cracks, spalling, existing coatings, oil contamination, and any repairs outside the proposed work.

Preparation and products

Specify the preparation method and each coating product, including manufacturer requirements. Record coverage area, selected finish, edges, steps, and vertical surfaces.

Cure and warranty

Request access restrictions for walking, storage, and vehicles. Read the warranty for moisture-related exclusions, surface-preparation conditions, and the remedy for peeling or other failure.

Compare preparation and the coating system

Ask for the product system, preparation method, treatment of cracks and joints, coat schedule, and return-to-use instructions. A decorative flake color is not a complete specification. Identify whether moisture testing is proposed and how an unsuitable slab affects the offer. Have the contractor state whether moving storage, removing an old coating, and restoring adjoining surfaces are included.

The key question before authorizing work

Ask: Which preparation and coating products are included, and what slab conditions could make this system unsuitable?
