A cabinet order and an installed kitchen cabinet project are different purchases. A dimensioned layout and a complete component list are the starting point for comparing suppliers and installers.

Price evidence and its limits

HomeGuide’s cost guide, dated April 5, 2023, lists $150–$500 per linear foot installed in its kitchen-cabinet overview. These are the publisher’s U.S. consumer-guide estimates, checked September 7, 2026; they are not local bids or a price survey conducted by this site. The source date is not the date every underlying project was priced. These April 2023 estimates are historical context. A linear-foot figure cannot replace a cabinet schedule, especially where tall cabinets, islands, finished panels, or accessories differ.

Define the work in the quote

Cabinet schedule

Specify cabinet sizes, construction, door style, finish, and storage accessories. List finished ends, fillers, toe kicks, moldings, hardware, and island panels rather than leaving them implied.

Removal and fitting

State who measures, verifies appliance clearances, removes the old cabinets, and installs and levels the new units. Ask how wall and floor irregularities will be addressed.

Adjacent work

Separate countertops, backsplash, plumbing, electrical, painting, and appliance reconnection. Check delivery, damage replacement, and warranty responsibilities when supplier and installer are different businesses.

Compare the cabinet schedule, not just linear feet

Use a drawing identifying each base, wall, tall, corner, and specialty cabinet. Record construction, door finish, hardware, fillers, trim, and installation. Two layouts with the same run length can contain different storage and accessories. Clarify whether countertop removal, plumbing disconnection, appliance handling, and wall repairs sit inside the cabinet quote or another contractor contract.

The key question before authorizing work

Ask: Is this a complete installed cabinet schedule, including fillers, panels, hardware, and all adjacent work needed to finish?
