Portland’s 2026 schedule charges $2.82 per square foot, with voluntary-repair minimum and maximum caps.

Portland’s transportation review schedule lets a homeowner calculate a sidewalk-repair permit from the measured area. Voluntary repair before a posted notice is $2.82 per square foot, with a $101 minimum and $333 maximum. After a posted notice, the same rate has a $141 minimum and $1,056 maximum. Read the July 10, 2026 schedule.

For 30 square feet, $2.82 × 30 = $84.60, so the voluntary $101 minimum applies. At 50 square feet, the calculated fee is $141. At 150 square feet, $2.82 × 150 = $423, so the voluntary cap produces $333. The posted-notice category has different caps and a higher minimum; confirm the notice status before applying the worksheet.

The permit covers public-right-of-way review. Concrete removal, replacement, accessibility details, traffic control, and private-side preparation can remain in the contractor’s quote. Measure the area and photograph any notice before requesting bids.

Give the contractor the area and applicable schedule category, then keep the capped fee separate from construction. These are Portland permit charges checked September 8, 2026, not a concrete price.

The city notice is the first document to obtain. Voluntary repair before notice and repair after notice use different minimums and caps even though both use $2.82 per square foot. Give the contractor a measured sketch and notice date, and request separate lines for permit, demolition, replacement, and accessibility work.

That distinction changes a small repair most. A 30-square-foot voluntary repair calculates to $84.60 but is billed at the $101 minimum; the same measured area after notice is subject to the $141 minimum. For a large voluntary repair, the $333 cap stops the permit line from rising with area after roughly 118 square feet ($333 ÷ $2.82). Measure only the public sidewalk work covered by the application and ask the city to confirm the category before using those thresholds.

Portland’s public-works permit guide is the process check: use it to confirm that the work is a public-right-of-way permit before relying on the transportation fee table. Read the UR/UC permit guide alongside the schedule.
