Box Elder GIS Fees: Custom Map, Query, or Parcel Data

Box Elder County separates a $25 custom-map minimum, $115 example query, and $600–$1,400 parcel-data products.

By How we research prices

Box Elder County’s 2026 schedule prices three different deliverables: a custom map at $25 per hour with a one-hour minimum, a query at $100 plus $0.05 per returned record, and parcel shapefile data at $600 to $1,400 depending on fields. The data tiers are $600 for the entire file, $1,000 with owner information, and $1,400 with owner information and assessed values. Read the county GIS fee schedule.

Choose by output, not by the smallest number. A one-address boundary question may need a visual map; a defined list of records may need a query; repeated countywide analysis may justify a shapefile. The products are not interchangeable: a PDF or printed map does not contain the structured fields needed for GIS analysis.

Deliverable Published price Best fit
Custom map $25/hour, one-hour minimum One-off visual map
Query $100 + $0.05 per returned record Defined result set
Parcel shapefile, entire file $600 Dataset without listed owner/value fields
Parcel shapefile with owners $1,000 Analysis requiring owner field
Parcel shapefile with owners and assessed values $1,400 Analysis requiring both fields

A 300-record query produces a worksheet of $100 + ($0.05 × 300) = $115. That result is meaningful when the request needs 300 returned records; it is not a reason to order a query for a single parcel. Ask whether the fee is based on returned records and specify the filter before the GIS office runs it.

The consolidated schedule confirms the same distinction between custom-map production, queries and parcel data. Review Box Elder’s consolidated fee schedule with the requested fields and format. Before approving a shapefile, ask for the field list, file format, delivery method, date of the extract and any use restrictions. Before approving a custom map, specify the parcel IDs, layers, labels, scale and file format.

The $25 minimum is a production starting point, while $600–$1,400 buys data management capacity. Neither figure establishes a countywide “map cost” for every request. Recheck the 2026 schedule and ask GIS to confirm the product in writing.
